A mid-latitude continental climate can be found in the interior of the country. A mountain climate prevails at high elevations, where temperatures are influenced mainly by altitude. A Mediterranean type of climate is found along the Mediterranean coast. In this area summers are hot and winters are mild and humid with a small number of rainy days during the year.
