Spain is a parliamentary monarchy which is located in Southern Europe. It is the third biggest country in Europe. Spain is divided into 17 autonomous communities (comparable with the German states) and two autonomous cities. The capital, and biggest town of the country is Madrid with a population of 3.155.359.

Climate:
In the southeast areas of the country especially, the summer provides high temperatures and is dry the year round. In these regions, near the Mediterrean sea rainfall is rare, in some of these areas it rains less than 200mm per year. In the north west of the country there is higher rainfall. The warmest and driest regions of the country are located in the south with summer temperatures greater than 40C.
The climate in Spain can be divided into the following zones: Atlantic climate, Ocean-continental- climate, continental mediterrean climate, mediterrean climate, Subtropic climate and mountain climate.
