CYPRUS
The Republic of Cyprus is situated in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily and Sardinia. Cyprus is currently divided in two with the North part (Turkish) and the South part (Greek). Since 2004 the Republic of Cyprus has been a member state of the European Union.
The Turkish population is approx. 27% and the Greek population about 73%. There are two large mountain ranges and the highest mountain in Cyprus is Olympos with a peak of 1.952mtrs. The coastline is 700 km long.

Climate:
The climate is a Mediterranean one. In the South, temperatures are much higher and the sea is the warmest in the Mediterranean, with 17C in February and 28C in summer. From May to November it is very dry. This causes a water problem on the island. From December to April it sometimes rains. The average summer temperature is 37C. In summer temperature are often higher than 40C, sometimes reaching 48C . Temperatures in winter are not less than 15C-20C.
