The entrance to the mansion is pronounced by the stainless steel spike, reminiscent in form of the red alabaster columns of ancient Cretan Palaces. Local limestone has been used to clad the whole building. Strategically placed voids on the roof help in illuminating the interior.
One of the mansions novelties is the indoor-outdoor swimming pool. The interior part can be closed for the winter. The whole North façade is a direct replica of Nestors palace, scaled down of course since the original was at least three times larger.
A large area surrounds the outdoor pool. On the east side there is a garden whos vegetation serves towards the privacy of the pools surroundings. The service entrance to the east is not left alone. Equal detail has been given to its styling.
Coming into the mansion, your eyes immediately fall upon the central theme of the Mansion, the Estia. Estia is the holy pyre (from the Greek word pyra) the centre of every home in ancient Greece and of course the object that in every palace was placed more centrally than even the king himself. The pyre is the shrine of goddess Hestia or Estia as pronounced in Greek the protector of House, family and hospitality. The fire was always kept lit as was the warmth giver of the Home and heart of every living being in the building. So in our case, the fire is always lit and its light is seen from the levels.
In the inlay you see the original pyre of Nestors palace which was placed in the throne room, notice that the throne was at the far right. Entering the Mansion, stainless steel columns guard the entrance to the waiting room, the main observatory of the Estia. The Cretan light coming flowing from the top, blends with the pyre, a tribute to the elements Throughout the years, millions of designs have been produced thus our current state of aesthetic awareness. Marketing and fashion have made trends and shapes which are commonly recognized by their name. Words like modern, classical, retro, art nouveau and their chronological derivatives like 60´s 80´s 90´s are all around us going around a never ending circle. Enough is enough! We have been searching for something new, and we didnt have to look far. We only had to go back to the beginning In the age when mankind, for the first time in history, could afford to make buildings not solemnly based on the use of them, but also upon how they looked. This primitive, unspoilt aspect of beauty and form is what this mansion is all about. In an age of plentyness, giving a lot is no longer essential, not even important. Its all about fresh starts
Subtle and clean lines. A large living area, suitable to house any activity may wish. A musical corner, a card table or anything one needs for entertainment. A nest for the body and soul, infinite possibilities next to an infinite view.
The basement incorporates all kinds of activities. The indoor pool, unified through a small stream with the outdoor part is the main theme. The space to the right is used as a gym, on the left the bar with the sauna and the home theatre, the Estia though is as in every level, the mansions centrepiece.
